Gastwerk Hotel Hamburg

This hotel is good, and has free wi-fi, 24-hour reception, and a lovely bar area. The staff once helped me with directions, which I really appreciated. I recommend enjoying a massage during your stay. I'm coming back for Christmas!

The breakfast was excellent and the service was very on its toes, good-humoured and polite. Everything was always refilled and quickly cleared away. Excellent. Keep up the good work!. Also the wellness area was very good! We were able to get in so everything was there. This is very good and comfortable! Great! Also the ladies there on site, were helpful and yet always discreet in the background. Just right!

We have windows to the inner hall and therefore no outside air! We had not expected this and missed it accordingly. There is nothing to complain about the room and the equipment. It was perfectly clean, spacious and tastefully arranged. Wow! Only through the windows to the hall there was no outside air and instead, there was some noise that echoed and rose upwards so that we had to close the windows permanently during the night. Nevertheless, the noise was still audible. Not so good if you want to sleep calmly.

They were very friendly and courteous in paying my bill (which was exactly what was missing at the reception) and even so attentive to congratulate me on my birthday (which was the day before). The situation was great for me, as I was celebrating around the corner. The parking lots were sufficient and easily accessible. The ambience is fascinating and impressive.

The reception at the check-in was unfriendly and distracted and not with me as a guest, I was rather "worked off" although nobody else was standing at the reception. Also my inquiries were rather ignored. Therefore I was offered - babbled down - an upgrade. The bar service ended - very emphatically - although the bar was still well filled with guests. It felt very much like a "kick-out". The breakfast was not extraordinary and rather boring - in my opinion not appropriate for a design hotel.

Grand industrial design, vibrant neighborhood for exploration, complimentary sweets and treats

The pillows lacked firmness which forced me to wake up feeling unsupported!!! Noise issues from the atrium were disruptive during events, detracting from a relaxing vibe!!! Don't forget about the unimpressive bar cocktails served with overly large ice cubes!!!

No fresh air! The window of the room was not towards the outside but towards the lobby... If you need fresh air to sleep you should not choose this hotel

The venue is stylish, clean and the location is wonderful and unbeatable right by Hamburg's city centre, center of Altona, and the common areas. The staff is being fairly friendly. The service at the restaurant is excellent.

I enjoyed everything. Staff works perfectly, breakfast is absolutely full, big size of the rooms. Quiet district around and easy road to city center, main shopping streets.

If you want to be in the center this hotel is not yours for these purposes.

Staff speak very good English. The bar staff are very proffesional and pleasant. Smoking is alowed in the bar after 5pm. Restaurant is superb if a little expensive. They have 6 English tv channels and they are not all news!

Is it hype or the real deal?

The fine industrial design impressed me, and the free parking to charge our car was a noteworthy perk. The staff's friendliness and perfect service enhanced our experience .

Unpleasant noise disruptions from the atrium affected our comfort at night. Breakfast options were a bit overpriced and lacked variety.

Staff was uniformly friendly, helpful and efficient. And I even received an upgrade.

The site is a bit inconvenient for getting to most Hamburg sites. I did however choose Gastwerk for its location because I wished to be on the S-bahn line west of Altona.

Calm and cozy. Good parking facilities. Good cleaning. Nice atmosphere. Good breakfast (which was not included in the roomprice).
